Interested in becoming a teacher?
The Teacher Preparation and Certification Program (TPCP) was originally implemented to prepare non-certified teachers to fill shortages in critical need areas and to provide entry into the teaching profession for qualified individuals wishing to make a career change.
This program is an intense, 12-18 months, field-based training model in which competencies are learned from a variety of specialists. Tuition for the program is $4000. Upon completion of preservice training, passing of the TExES content exam, and a commitment to on-going training during the school year, participants are eligible to be employed as a teacher of record for the school year (internship year). Upon successful completion of all program requirements, the internship year, program and district recommendations, and a passing score on all necessary TExES exams, participants will earn a teaching certificate specific to their area of study.
All information is subject to change based on State Board of Educator Certification rules. The ESC Region 19 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program complies with and meets federal guidelines as mandated by the "No Child Left Behind" legislation.
