The Teacher Preparation and Certification Program (TPCP) was originally implemented to prepare non-certified teachers to fill shortages in critical need areas and to provide entry into the teaching profession for qualified individuals wishing to make a career change.
This program is an intense, 12-to-18 month, field-based training model in which competencies are learned from a variety of specialists. Tuition for the program is $4,400. Upon completion of pre-service observations, passing of the TExES content exam, and a commitment to on-going training during the school year, participants are eligible to be employed as a teacher of record for the school year (internship year). Upon successful completion of all program requirements, student teaching, program and district recommendations, and a passing score on all necessary TExES exams, participants will earn a Texas teaching certificate specific to their area of study.
All information is subject to change based on State Board of Educator Certification rules. The ESC - Region 19 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program complies with and meets federal guidelines as mandated by the "No Child Left Behind" legislation.
