2020 Texas State & ESC19 Teacher of the Year
Michelle Sandoval Villegas is a 12 year teacher born and raised from El Paso, TX. She spent 9 years in 3rd grade education at Mesita Elementary and has had the privledge to come home to her Alma Mater Parkland Pre-Engineering Middle School in beautiful Northeast El Paso for the rest of her years. She is a proud product of Ysleta Independent School District and vowed early in her high school years to come back to her community and serve, inspire and lead those students in her cherished community.
Mrs. Villegas was awarded the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year title in 2019-2020, one of the highest honors any educator in Texas can receive. Not only is she proud to receive this title, but it holds a testament for her students to see: if she can do it, so can they! Hard work and dedication always pay off, but the importance of building relatioships with students is crucial. With her out of the box work ethic and passion for educating middle school aged young adults, she believes that anything is possible with a connection that is built with students since day one.
Mrs. Villegas dedicates her work to her students who face adversity every day and continue to SHOW UP! She will take you through a walk at "The Park" with her compelling stories and inspirations along the way. Together we learn and grow and she never wants her students or colleagues to forget this.
