HB 3 requires all teachers and principals in grades K – 3 to demonstrate proficiency in the Science of Teaching Reading through successful completion of Reading Academies by the 2021 – 2022 school year. To help school districts meet this requirement, ESC 19 is an Authorized Provider of Reading Academy content via Comprehensive or Blended learning pathways. Participants can choose to engage with Reading Academy content in one of three avenues for learning: General Education/SPED, Biliteracy, or Administrative. HB 3 creates an opportunity for K – 3 school educators across the state to become masters of their craft. To achieve this, ESC 19 will dedicate a team of consultants to facilitate Reading Academy cohorts in coordination with school districts in the region.
