PRINCIPAL ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION ACADEMY

Requirements for Certification

Coursework and Training

• 160 hours of Field-Based Internship under the supervision of a qualified mentor
• 200 hours of training (80% Online Modules and 20% Face-to-Face Instruction)
• Coursework completion (assignments for entire course)
• All required documentation completed and submitted
• Tuition paid in full
• Technology Fee paid

Principal Certification Exams

• 268 Principal as Instructional Leader (PaIL)
• 368 Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL)

*Note: You must take/pass the qualifying practice exam in the ACP office before you can register for the 268 Principal Exam.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) and Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (TTESS) Trainings

About Internships

All internships must be under the supervision of a qualified mentor and must take place in a TEA-accredited school which includes:

• All public Texas schools
• Most charter/public schools in Texas
• Most parochial schools in Texas
