The Teacher Preparation and Certification Program (TPCP) was originally implemented to prepare non-certified teachers to fill shortages in critical need areas and to provide entry into the teaching profession for qualified individuals wishing to make a career change.

This program is a field-based training model in which competencies are learned from a variety of specialists. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, internship, program recommendations and a passing score on all necessary TExES exams, participants will earn a Texas teaching certificate specific to their area of study.
