Child Nutrition

  • The ESC 19 Child Nutrition team offers assistance to several programs that provide healthy food to children including the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and the Summer Food Service Programs, as outlined in the USDA regulations. Each of these programs helps fight hunger and obesity by reimbursing organizations such as schools, child and adult care centers, and after-school programs for providing healthy meals to children. The Child Nutrition team also offers assistance with the Farm to School Initiative, the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and the Special Milk Program. The CNP team provides on-site and off-site technical assistance services and serves as a liaison between the various entities involved in the integration of the eight components of a Coordinated School Health Services program. The CNP team makes available nutritional materials as provided by USDA and TDA for distribution.
