Microsoft and Google are two of the most innovative, industry-leading, and recognizable technology titans in the world. And now Students and Educators can obtain an industry-recognized certification! Microsoft, founded in 1975, is a staple in the technology world also leading with subsidiaries that include, but are not limited to, Skype, LinkedIn, and Bing. The productivity in the business process has proven to be steadily rising in recent reports for the industry leader. With over 1 billion devices running Windows 10, the latest version of their groundbreaking software, schools, certainly, contribute to that number. Microsoft’s “Global Commitment to Education” reports over 100 million Active Users of Office 365 Education, their free Microsoft Office service for students and educators since 2011.

The Microsoft Office Specialist Word and Excel 2019 Training and Certification Program is a program designed to provide opportunities to students, teachers, administrative support, counselors, and administrators to obtain in-depth training leading up to certification in essential Microsoft Office programs Word and Excel. The program provides real-world exercises to appraise their understanding of Microsoft Office. “Microsoft Certification gives students and workforce candidates the power to chart their own course, fulfill their ambition, and realize their potential,” says Oscar Carrera, a Professional Development Consultant in the Information and Institutional Technologies Services Department here at ESC Region 19 who organizes the programs to their fruition. “We plan to continue several training and certification sessions through this new school year! All done virtually!” Google also plays an important role in the technology-led age of education.

Google, founded over 21 years ago, receives 76% of all internet searches with over 3.5 billion Google searches every day! But their industry-leading search engine isn’t the only thing the technology giant provides to the world of technology for education. The G Suite for Education initiatives provides “Tools for collaboration, communication, and creativity.” This includes programs such as Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive—all fundamental applications used to facilitate various activities in schools all around the world. The Google Cloud in G Suite Training and Certification Program is a program also designed to provide opportunities to students, teachers, admin support, counselors, and administrators to obtain a leading industry-recognized certification. A Google Cloud certification in G Suite signals to employers that the test candidate possesses the digital skills to work collaboratively and productively in a professional environment. Carrera makes it evident that “By earning the G Suite certification, the test candidate proves the ability to complete common workplace activities using cloud-based tools to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and files,” Carrera, who works directly with various Career and Technical Education individuals, says ESC Region 19 will also continue to offer several virtual training and certifications sessions throughout the upcoming school year.
