EL PASO, TX (December 2021)— With 1 in 44 children in the U.S. being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, the spectrum continues to be an everchanging field of study. Research updates become increasingly important in the field of education. The Together for Autism Conference is designed to help parents, educators, and students with these important updates and how to navigate them through education.
“In the field of autism, whether you are a parent, professional or community member, we are never finished learning”, says Katherine Wellborn, Project Manager for the conference. The keynote speakers for this year’s conferences bring lots of excitement.

I was bullied, for all the ways that I was different than everybody else”, says Anthony Ianni. “But I defied the predictions: Building on the challenges I overcame, I graduated from college and became the first athlete in NCAA history with autism to play Division 1 college basketball.” Ianni now has a mission to motivate, educate, and inspire other individuals in chasing their goals and dreams in life.
David J. Flood grew up impacted by addiction in his family, respectively. According to his bio, he married and became a father of two children, his oldest is a special needs son. Flood is active in his church and a hospice volunteer who visits with terminally ill patients. He serves on the board of K.I.D.S. Katherine Wellborn mentions, “The Together for Autism Conference continues to provide opportunities to learn from national presenters and highlight the amazing work being done here at home!”
ESC 19's 18th Annual Together for Autism Conference will be the first major event happening inside the brand new Starlight Event Center. This is the first of many in-person/hybrid conferences that hope to bring people together again safely in an important professional development fashion while still following city ordinances with the ongoing pandemic.
