Read Across America

Dr. Seuss’s birthday in March has become an annual celebration of reading among millions of students, parents, educators, and consumers nationwide. To celebrate, ESC Region 19 Head Start students visited the University of Texas at El Paso Bookstore for a community event on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

ESC 19 Head Start Students and staff joined millions of their peers from across the country to celebrate Read Across America Day. NEA's Read Across America Day, which celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday and the joys of reading, expects more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read during the first week of March 2019.

To honor the good doctor and celebrate the fun and value of reading, The University Bookstore is asking you to join NEA and many of America's leading literacy, youth, and civic groups in bringing a nation of readers together under one hat-the red and white stovepipe made famous by the Cat in the Hat-for a flurry (or furry) of reading excitement!
