Assistant Chef, Starlight Event Center



This position involves assisting with food preparation, food inventory, and catering needs of the Starlight Event Center, cafe, and ESC 19 events.  The Assistant Chef should always demonstrate responsibility, respect, and excellent kitchen management skills. 




This position requires a High School Diploma or GED certificate (preferred), TX food handler's card, 5 years of experience in food preparation/service in a school or commercial kitchen/restaurant setting; knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment required; knowledge of health department food service and sanitation standards; bilingual (English/Spanish) required, knowledge of menu development (preferred); experience in food and supplies ordering/inventory maintenance experience (preferred); Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.  Knowledge of SDS Sheets, (preferred); CPR/Frist Aid Certified (preferred).  Requires availability to work a changing scheduled to include working early, late, evenings, weekends and holidays according to event center needs.  Requires excellent customer service and teamwork skills and positive attitude in resolving workplace challenges.  Requires experience serving staff and the general public.  Must have the ability to balance the work load among the staff. Or any combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
