Program Manager II, Nutrition Head Start

Summary

 

The Nutrition Program Manager is responsible for the assessment, planning, evaluating, coordinating, communication and record keeping of Nutrition Services in the areas of laws and regulations, meal service, special nutrition needs, professional development training, and nutrition education and kitchen operations.  This individual has knowledge and is familiar with CACFP regulations or similar USDA child nutrition programs; this person will complete and submit CACFP grant application, review and approve menus, provide training and support to all kitchen staff and make modifications for special diets. Must have strong and effective verbal and written skills, provide direct supervision to nutrition facilitators and have knowledge of nutritional needs for children 0-4 years of age. The Program Manager is responsible for managing Nutrition funds for Head Start, Early Head Start and CACFP.

 

 

Qualifications

 

The qualifying skills for this position are as follows:  Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Administration, (or related field) or at least 10 years of experience directly related to early childhood nutrition) including three (3) years of experience in the area of food procurement, preparation, and service Experience administering recordkeeping for CACFP or similar USDA child nutrition programs (preferred); licensed/registered Dietitian in the State of Texas (preferred); Food Handler’s card or Food Management certification (required); experience in all aspects of food service staff development and nutrition education; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
