Community Relations & Social Media Engagement Specialist

Summary

 

The Community Relations and Social Media Engagement Specialist will assist in implementing strategies that facilitate the community engagement and marketing needs of the program.  The primary role for this position is to support ESC 19 Head Start in advancing their social media, marketing and communications efforts. The Community Relations and Social Media Engagement Specialist will plan and execute a social media calendar and schedule, write, create content and build social media post across all platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and others. This position requires the candidate to develop a strong social media presence and actively monitor and engage with ESC 19 Head Start’s online community.  This individual will also coordinate, and support program sponsored media and public relations events, and develop innovative ways to support the growth and educational development of young children and their families through social channels, blogs and other mediums. This person will research, interview, write, edit, and proofread content for external communication, online platforms and publications. The person will also work with other program service areas to collect newsworthy story ideas and identify methods to grow parental and community engagement using social channels. This individual will provide organizational social media training, develop social media metrics, and utilize analytics to enhance social media strategies. This individual will assist with the distribution of program-wide communication to parents using the program’s notification system and assist the Senior Program Manager with large-scale and complex assignments. The Community Relations and Social Media Engagement Specialist will maintain positive, long-term relationships with school districts, media, local businesses, and community agencies.

 

 

Qualifications

 

The qualifying skills for this position are as follows: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Social Media Marketing or related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and coordinating marketing and public relations campaigns, and direct social media experience in building online communities, and campaigns organically. Must demonstrate knowledge and insight of social media platforms as well as social media monitoring and analytics tools. Must have knowledge and proficiency in Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, AP Style, WordPress, and social platforms built-in analytics. Must have knowledge in developing and managing social media calendars, plans and strategies. Must demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to create graphic, video, and photographic content for social media platforms. Must demonstrate the ability to identify stories, write for the web, public speaking, interviewing, and blogging.
