RTAP (Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program) Teacher Assistant
Summary
Plays a vital role in preparing children with school readiness skills necessary to succeed in school and life, through the implementation of the Head Start curriculum. Demonstrates instructional leadership, this educator positively impacts and drives the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a culture and classroom environment conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate practices. The focus of this position, although not limited to this, is impacting early childhood development at the classroom level.
Qualifications
Must be a participant in RTAP (Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program). High School diploma or GED required. Enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years of the time of hire or a State Awarded Child Development Certificate ; one to three years’ experience working with preschool children; ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish verbally and in writing; Food Handler’s card (preferred); First Aid/CPR certification (preferred); NOTE: Staff members that have not obtained an Associate Degree must ensure the CDA Credential is kept current and renewed 6 months prior to the expiration date of the credential. Staff that have not obtained an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development must continue their educational advancement toward their Associate Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development by taking coursework each fall and spring semester and submit transcripts until completion of the degree; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
