Family Service Worker, Head Start 2019-2020 Pool
High school diploma or GED; one for the following; a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field and 6 months to a year internship or volunteer work with children and/or families; or a Promotora (Certified Community Health Advocate and minimum 2 years of experience working with families); or a Associate degree in Social Work, Human Services, Behavior Science or knowledge of community resources; knowledge of family dynamics; working knowledge of student/ client database system; experience with data collection and reporting process (preferred); bilingual (English/Spanish); must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to region-wide site locations; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with parents, staff, and community partners; First Aid/CPR (preferred). Any combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
Plays a vital role in the early child development and success of all Head Start children by identifying the social service needs of families by linking parents to community resources, managing all aspects of social services, to include enrollment, recruitment, selection, eligibility, and attendance for children ages 0-5 years. Using effective case management the Family Service Worker (FSW) will serve as an internal and external multidisciplinary experiences for children through the early prevention, prompt intervention and evaluation of social services outcomes.
