Bus Driver/Custodian, Head Start 2024-2025 Pool
Summary
The role of the Head Start Bus Driver/Custodian is to safely transport children to and from the Head Start and Early Head Start sites on a daily basis, ensuring their comfort. The Bus Driver/Custodian must work cooperatively and effectively as a team with the Bus Monitor/Custodian while transporting students, parents, and staff, to prevent any safety violations or potential hazards both on the bus and in the work area at the site. This role also requires complying with and exceeding the requirements of Head Start Performance Standards, Minimum Standards, and all federal, state, and local laws. When not driving, the Bus Driver/Custodian will be responsible for site custodial duties and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with P and S endorsements; bilingual (English/Spanish); one year experience in custodial work (preferred); good driving record; basic knowledge of vehicle troubleshooting; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
