Summary

 

This educator plays a vital role in preparing children with the school readiness skills necessary to succeed in both school and life through the implementation of the Head Start curriculum. By demonstrating instructional leadership, they positively impact and drive the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a culture and classroom environment conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate practices. While the focus of this position is on impacting early childhood development at the classroom level, it is not limited to this aspect.

 

 

Qualifications

 

High School diploma or GED, enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years of the time of hire, or a State Awarded Child Development Certificate or a Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential; or Child Development Aide Certificate of Completion; or Child Development Teacher Assistant Certificate of Completion preferred; Associate Degree with emphasis in Early Childhood Development (preferred); Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred); one to three years of experience working with preschool children; ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish verbally and in writing; Food Handler’s card (preferred); First Aid/CPR certification (preferred); NOTE: Staff members that have not obtained an Associate Degree must ensure the CDA Credential is kept current and renewed 6 months prior to the expiration date of the credential. Staff that have not obtained an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development must continue their educational advancement toward their Associate Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development by taking coursework each fall and spring semester and submitting transcripts until completion of the degree; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
