Cook, Head Start 2023-2024 Pool
Summary
This position is responsible for all food service activities at the Head Start Center. The position involves coordination and management of the food nutrition needs of children and compliance with all administration reporting requirements. The cook should always demonstrate dependability, respect, and excellent kitchen planning and management skills.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certification; food handlers card; experience in preparing food; knowledge of operating commercial kitchen equipment; knowledge of food ordering and inventory; knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards to reflect local, state, and federal regulations; knowledge of basic math skills; experience in food service recordkeeping and reporting documentation (preferred); knowledge of cafeteria management and operation (preferred); one (1) year cooking experience for pre-school children (preferred); knowledge of Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) (preferred); ability to quantify recipes; ability to communicate in both English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
