Prof Dev Cons, Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL) Lead
This position requires a Master’s Degree in Education or related field, a valid Texas Teaching Certification, a valid Texas Principal or mid-management certificate (preferred). Requires a minimum of 3 years teaching experience and 6 years of successful experience in campus and/ or district leadership, preferably in a turnaround situation. (TIL training and coaching experience preferred.) Each additional year of related experience above the required minimum may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Must have a knowledge base in the area of coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance in the field of education, with an emphasis on identifying and problem solving through implementation barriers across wide and diverse circumstances. Must have an in depth knowledge of instructional leadership practices that lead to improved teaching and learning; an in-depth knowledge of data driven practices, lesson planning and formative assessment, observation and feedback, school culture, and change management; knowledge of district practices that impede as well as empower leadership; knowledge of the accountability system and the necessary actions and measurable progress required to meet state standards.
Must have skills in long-term planning and project management, tracking progress, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, root cause analysis as well as adult learning and professional development design and delivery. Must be able to effectively communicate and connect with diverse audiences, understand complex and unique circumstances to support the growth among individuals and across districts. Must be able to set challenging goals and reach a high standard of performance despite barriers.
Must demonstrate initiative and persistence in doing more than is expected or required in order to accomplish a challenging task, set clear expectations and hold others accountable for performance. Must act with a purpose that impacts and positively influences the perceptions, thinking, and actions of others. Must assume leadership of a group for the benefit of the organization. Experience in providing professional development and distance learning, as well as organizational skills, computer knowledge/abilities to enhance the integration of technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Provide a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and other alternatives deemed appropriate by the Executive Director.
The professional development consultant for TIL will work directly with ESC TIL coaches and regional principal supervisors to coordinate, adapt, and ensure the fidelity of implementation of TIL practices as well as support the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in the development and delivery of statewide TIL training and coaching tools and resources. This person will serve as the primary point of contact with the TEA, working collaboratively with TEA, ESC Consultants of Instructional Leadership, and other ESC TIL leads to spread instructional leadership best practices across the state. Requires frequent travel within the state of Texas.
